  • For urban planners, tapping technologies such as Land Use and Transportation Interaction (LUTI) models are key to gaining deeper insights and making more informed decisions in planning for land uses, amenities and infrastructure. Hear from Chairman of the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis Michael Batty on LUTI models and how they work, with UK's national scale LUTI model as a case study. Sign up for our DPX (Design & Planning Exchange) virtual talk on 17 May, where Prof Batty will be sharing his insights: https://go.gov.sg/dpx #DPX #transportation #urbanplanning #LUTImodels

  • Here are 3️⃣ ways we’ve been greening our city through LUSH! 🌱 Short for 'Landscaping for Urban Spaces and High-Rises', the LUSH programme encourages developers to creatively re-introduce greenery in new or redeveloped buildings. This gives us more green spaces to enjoy and pops of green in our distinctive cityscape. Learn more about how we are shaping a green and liveable city for all in our urban design guide: https://lnkd.in/grk9zWYD #greencity #urbanplanning #CityinNature

  • Celebrating 50 years of shaping a great city! 🎉 Earlier this month, we marked our 50th anniversary with over 600 officers and 100 alumni coming together to reflect on URA’s journey. As Singapore’s land use planning agency, we have been on the forefront of transforming Singapore into a modern metropolis and a global economic hub. This would not have been possible without past and present officers. Our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who have been part of this journey, especially our alumni whose vision and passion have laid the foundation for our success. We are excited to build on their legacy and shape Singapore into an even greater city and home for the next 50 years and beyond. #URASpirit

  • We're shaping distinctive corridors across Singapore - and we want you to be a part of it! Where past meets present, these Identity Corridors run along some of Singapore's early major roads, rivers and rail lines. Today, they thread through some of our city's most charming streetscapes and neighbourhoods. Share your ideas for public spaces, community projects, cycling infrastructure and more along the corridors. Sign up for upcoming engagements at: https://lnkd.in/g6PTeqJg #DMP2025 #SpaceforOurDreams #IdentityCorridors

  • Ever wondered how a small city-state like Singapore finds the space for all our needs, from housing to recreation, and all other essential infrastructure? The magic is in coming up with innovative solutions, just like what we did with the Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant! Our long-term land planning efforts always consider the needs and aspirations of Singaporeans like you! And we’re not the only ones who benefit from it – future generations will too. We have started public engagement for the Draft Master Plan 2025, where we plan for your neighbourhoods and different parts of Singapore for the next 10-15 years. • We are honoured to share that we have won the 2024 GeoInnovation Award for our ePlanner project! Developed in-house, the web-based geospatial platform enables over 1,600 government officers, including planners and architects, to seamlessly access and analyse both 2D and 3D geospatial data for various urban planning and design work. By streamlining processes and reducing reliance on multiple software, ePlanner empowers officers to collaborate and make informed decisions more effectively and efficiently. Tools such as ePlanner enable us to better optimise the nation’s limited land to meet the needs and aspirations of Singaporeans. Presented by Esri Singapore, the award is a testament to our commitment in driving innovation to advance urban planning and design. Congratulations to our Design & Planning Lab team for this achievement, which was represented by Deputy Director Julian Cheng as a speaker and panellist at the awards event. We are working with industry stakeholders to extend ePlanner to a larger community. Reach out to the team at URBEX@ura.gov.sg to be part of this exciting next phase! #URASpirit #ePlanner #Technology #GeoInnovationAward #URBEX

  • You may be familiar with their gem biscuits and cream crackers, but have you been to the headquarters of Khong Guan? Check out how this 1950s building was carefully restored to celebrate its rich heritage – down to the smallest details such as the tiles! – and how the new extension for the headquarters office was designed.    The restoration team’s efforts won them our Architectural Heritage Award (AHA) for Restoration and Innovation in 2018. Today, it is not just home to the headquarters office but also a café at the ground level open to anyone who’ll like to visit and take in the 1950s aesthetic of the building. Know of other beautifully restored buildings? Nominate them for AHA 2024 from now till 3 June 2024!
