Celebrating 50 years of shaping a great city! 🎉 Earlier this month, we marked our 50th anniversary with over 600 officers and 100 alumni coming together to reflect on URA’s journey. As Singapore’s land use planning agency, we have been on the forefront of transforming Singapore into a modern metropolis and a global economic hub. This would not have been possible without past and present officers. Our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who have been part of this journey, especially our alumni whose vision and passion have laid the foundation for our success. We are excited to build on their legacy and shape Singapore into an even greater city and home for the next 50 years and beyond. #URASpirit

We are honoured to share that we have won the 2024 GeoInnovation Award for our ePlanner project! Developed in-house, the web-based geospatial platform enables over 1,600 government officers, including planners and architects, to seamlessly access and analyse both 2D and 3D geospatial data for various urban planning and design work. By streamlining processes and reducing reliance on multiple software, ePlanner empowers officers to collaborate and make informed decisions more effectively and efficiently. Tools such as ePlanner enable us to better optimise the nation’s limited land to meet the needs and aspirations of Singaporeans. Presented by Esri Singapore, the award is a testament to our commitment in driving innovation to advance urban planning and design. Congratulations to our Design & Planning Lab team for this achievement, which was represented by Deputy Director Julian Cheng as a speaker and panellist at the awards event. We are working with industry stakeholders to extend ePlanner to a larger community. Developed jointly with Ho Bee Land, National Parks Board and JTC Corporation, this new node will bring nearby residents and workers in one-north closer to nature and offer public spaces for community events and activities. You may be familiar with their gem biscuits and cream crackers, but have you been to the headquarters of Khong Guan? Check out how this 1950s building was carefully restored to celebrate its rich heritage – down to the smallest details such as the tiles! – and how the new extension for the headquarters office was designed.    The restoration team’s efforts won them our Architectural Heritage Award (AHA) for Restoration and Innovation in 2018. Today, it is not just home to the headquarters office but also a café at the ground level open to anyone who’ll like to visit and take in the 1950s aesthetic of the building. What does it take to connect over 9km of rolling hills and green spaces? 🤔 The Southern Ridges is an example of how we work with different organisations and Singaporeans, like you, to make our spaces more enjoyable. And the result? A seamless stretch in southern Singapore that spans various parks and lush open spaces, offering some of the most panoramic views of the city. The transformation and development of the Southern Ridges was even awarded the Urban Land Institute’s prestigious Global Awards for Excellence in 2010.
